Makers made this.
Large scale events such as fundraisers, conferences and galas as we know it have evolved drastically over the past year. However, we at Makers have seen this as an opportunity to reinvent how events are made and to challenge ourselves to explore new and innovative ways to bring live experiences to your audience. While we’ve kept the majority of our clients’ events virtual in 2020, we still managed to get some pretty great results. Below are a few of the things we’ve made last year. We’ve also include some examples of the hybrid events and full on live experiences. We would love the opportunity to continue the conversation with St. George’s Society of Toronto and support you in your quest to bring back the Red Rose Ball and other initiatives throughout the year, even if it’s just connecting the dots to other non-profits.
ALS CANADA- Virtual Finish-Line
Makers was tasked with how to virtually unite, entertain and form real connections with thousands of members within the ALS community . We enlisted the help of Encore as our technical streaming lead and lined up an incredible cross country show live streamed out to a dedicated microsite + Facebook Live, with celebrity appearances, several live musical performances, special visits from prominent members, research updates and even a magic show.
The real magic? Watching a community come together, refusing to let the challenge of a global pandemic stand in their way. With thousands of views, many laughs and moments when we were moved to tears, ALS Canada surpassed their 2020 goal and raised over $1.1 million dollars!
Canada Goose- Generations of Warmth
During the holiday season, Canada Goose wanted to remind us of the unique bonds we have with one another because family is something that everyone wears differently. We flew influencers and Canada Goose consumers from around the world to St.John’s, Newfoundland to celebrate these bonds over an east coast family style dinner. In addition we curated a tailored experience for each group of influencers while staying at the beautiful Doctor's House directly by the ocean. During our ocean side family dinner, our team shot the 2019 holiday spot
City of Toronto- RespectTO
Makers was tasked by the City of Toronto to create a Canada Day celebration that recognized essential and frontline workers. After a thorough asset and partner analysis, we teamed the city with creative agency Linda & Linda and we set in motion #RespectTO. At its heart, the campaign invited Torontonians to nominate fellow Torontonians who would then appear across city-wide media assets, a live virtual broadcast on CBC and YouTube. Makers built the microsite, negotiated 100 donated media spaces in the city, filmed a promo video for the live broadcast and handled social/digital asset creation/PR. And we showed RespectTO over 1,300 Torontonians.
Elevate 2019 Conference
Elevate’s 3rd season, Canada's leading annual tech and innovation festival had many lofty goals and Makers helped provide three producers who ran key components of the festival - including main stage speaker curation and management, Indigo Books author symposium and author signing station as well as overall head of production operations.
ST.Mikes- Pandemic Pregnancy Webinar
With the 2020 pandemic, the SMHF event team had to pivot drastically and digitize all their important educational and fund-raising efforts. Knowing this event would bring their largest turnout ever, it was imperative that the live stream go smoothly. Makers helped do just that by collaborating with SMHF to organize an approach and contingencies that would minimize unexpected issues all while keeping costs reasonable. We brought together SMHFS’s leading OBGYNs and psychiatrists to provide a highly applauded webinar for expecting individuals and their families during the pandemic.
MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY- Walk4MD
How do you virtually unite, entertain and forge real connections with hundreds of members of the Muscular Dystrophy community. Makers recruited a technical partner and planned a cross-country live stream to a dedicated microsite + multiple FB pages & Youtube Live. Local celebrity appearances, special visits from prominent community members, and research updates were delivered in both two official languages with simultaneous translation.
With hundreds of live attendees from across Canada, many laughs and a mind blowing trick hockey shot from a 4 year-old boy diagnosed with Duchenne MD, Muscular Dystrophy Canada raised over $750,000 dollars!
SABA- Annual Gala
The South Asian Bar Association (SABA) is the premiere legal organization dedicated to promoting the objectives of the South Asian members of the legal profession. Each year SABA hosts its annual cocktail reception and gala dinner to recognize and celebrate the achievements of its community; and to aid in professional development of law students. Attended by some of the most elite law firms, financial institutions, politicians and Honourable Justices, the gala welcomes over 450 guests for a night of entertainment and keynotes from speakers such as Dr. Samantha Nutt (WarChild Canada, Founder & CEO).
